A happy memory...

I have been feeling a bit flat, we are in a lull with the renno stuff waiting, so thought I would I write about something that instantly makes me happy...My wedding.

It hasnt even been two months since the big day, yet it feels like a dream - it was so amazing, yet over so quickly!

I loved planning my wedding. I would do it again if I could (but no, another wedding is not on my list of things to do).

I loved the design process, making sure it reflected us as a couple, and working out what was that exactly?

Then planning the experience from a guests point of view, wanting the day to be a bit of a journey for them and might help our day keep a spot in their hearts & memory forever.

From all accounts from the family and friends that joined us on our awesome day, they say it lived up to all those things.

I might delve into the "how" we achieved all this another time...so for now here a taste of how the day looked.

We were so lucky, we had a bit of rain (for good measure & a bit of luck!) but mostly it was a beautiful sunny summer day.
All the finer details came together beautifully and I couldnt have been happier.
It will live on forever for us as one of the best, most beautiful, and definatly funnest day of our life.

It's been a BIG few days. Work is insanely busy, but the house rennos are coming along beauifully. Just trying to keep up with all the painting, CDC application requirements, and all the rest! Thank god for my Soy Latte... ;)

My last DIY light...

It was a part of my final graduate exhibition for my studies in Interior Design & Decoration (after 4 long years!)

I made the pendants out of tin planter pots (from Ikea!) and polystyrene domes covered in jute cord. They really did look so sweet and pretty...so they'll be making an appearance in my next bedroom refurb in our house.

We already have another custom made light fitting by moi in our lounge room - a photo of that one another time!

Centrepiece Monday

Table Centres. I love them. And I'm going to try to post one each Monday as a inspiring, happy start to the week. So here goes number one....

 

Gourgeous mixed bottles and jars with an eclectic mix of flowers - different colours, sizes & textures - with a customised label on one bottle as the table number. All held together within an empty rustic frame. Cute!

Such a simple, but effective, way of defining the centrepiece from the other glasware on the table, while still being minimal & quirky.

So I have my back deck/living space designed and under construction...now for the rest of the yard.

Isn't it beautiful.
The little rereat looks so homely with seperate outdoor living space and lush gardens. And the grogeous plunge pool with stone edge detail seamless from the green turf.
Yep. This really would be a nice view from the back of my house...

Market Baskets...

I love this picture. I took it in Monterosso, Chinque Terra, Italy in 2007... It is probably one of my favourite places in the world.

 

 

This particular pic was snapped in a fresh product market. Nothing has been styled, just naturally set up this way by the store for a normal day's business. (The cheeky cat hanging out in one of the baskets wasn't for sale!)

I just love the natural colours, contrast of textures and the effortlessness of this composition. It reminds me of the character I want my styling to achieve.

This photo has a spot on my wall at home and is what inspired the Lightshade-out-of-a-basket idea.

 

But after looking online its seems it well trialed by other DIY'ers- and they look fabulous! Here's a few that caught my eye...

Scheming...Outdoor Living

We have work more building work going on at our place at the moment, bringing the end in sight for our new re-vamped outdoor living space! I'm now up to all the fun stuff - picking colours, lighting, decor and all the rest. As usual, we are limited by budget, but that just makes the challenge more interesting!

I am going to make my own light fitting, as I have throughout other areas of my house... I am thinking of a market basket. I have also inherited some cane lounges, similar to these lovely Hamptons style armchairs below, which I am restoring and re-upholstering.
Heres a bit of a concept board for what I have in mind...

So here I am...with my own blog. I have been wanting to do this for a long time. I thought it was something I wouldn't get onto until life had settled down a bit and I wasn't so busy....or something like that? But the time is now. No better than the present.

I have been an avid follower of dozens of blogs for years, and some have I have become so attached to, that they are a part of my morning routine now. I love that. And I hope that one day I can take this blog to the same place in some other follower’s lives.

But for now it's just me.

 So this is where I will muse about all the beautiful creative happenings around me. The inspiration from talented people I admire, designs I love, and little ideas I have for my own little side projects.

I'm excited to have my own place to ponder and use as my mood board, my sounding board, and just a journal of my life and design journey...Lets see where it takes us...
